SELECT TOOL?

Hi, is there a way to go to the generic 'select tool' (the arrow in the 'text' window), that does not require me to have to go to the text window, click, then click the arrow, then go back to whatever I want to highlight to edit?

ie. if I am entering notes and decide the fithe one back I want to change, i am having to go down into the flyout windows to get the select tool and return to the note i want to change. I wish to just have a keyboard key I can hit to put me right into 'select mode'. Thanks.
