Combining two lines into one

Postby sepheritoh » Sun Jan 09, 2011 6:48 am

How can I combine two lines into a single line. For example, see image below:

I have two lines of score on the left in the image above and I want to combine them to look like the score on the right in the image above.

Thank you help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Assign upper notes to voice 1 and the lower to voice 2 on the same staff.
This way you can have a different sound for each (eg two wind players in GPO)

Hi Fabio

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried that, which renders results as per below image.

It works for propper playback, but does not cut it for professional looking scores. It is not really the same as having the notes combined.

Thanks

Hi sepheritoh.
Here's the workout.

- Go to Tools –> Staff Setting

- Switch to *Notation/Tab*

- Set *Voice Stem Mode* to *Joined stems*

Beware: beaming will end in being all messed up. So... it "does not cut it for professional looking scores" again
("two steps backward for every step forward", as usual in Notion's Weltanschauung :D ).
(Bug report just submitted).

As you mention, still not perfect though! Thank you for submitting the bug report.

I found a very tedious and long winding workaround. I export to midi, then import into Muse Score, as freeware notation program. Muse Score do the notation correct. I then export xml from Muse Score and import that back into Notion. This is a bit long way round and only viable where long sections are problematic. Also, it does not work in all cases. For example, Harp arpegios seems have a mind of their own!

Thanks for the help.
