Hi,
I got excited when I saw the Voices category in the N3 instruments list, however any of these play piano instead of the type of voice they are refering to... is it the expected behavior? What's the purpose then or are they there for an upcoming library?
Thanks.

I assume you're referring to the chorus parts, correct? If so, I think the piano sound plays the part of the voices so that you can track/hear the notes of the voices. Obviously, vocals are much harder to emulate (and emulate well) than other instruments. I recommend using a 3rd party VST (like EWQL Symphonic Choirs) if you need choral sounds in the box.

I'm looking for a way to compose via NOTION3 and incorporate choir such as either of these:
http://www.eastwestsamples.com/details.php?cd_index=963
http://vsl.co.at/en/211/261/314/1605/1277.htm
How would I go about doing this? Though I have been using Notion 3 (since Notion 1), I am brand new to the idea of using other libraries. I gather that NOTION3 has new capability of using such libraries. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,
Using Symphonic Choir with Notion is impossible since you currently need a midi plugin to host the word builder tool and Notion do not support those maybe it will be possible once that tool get included inside of the VSTi, but that keep being pushed out from EW. As for VSL Choir, I don't know, I don't own it, however I was curious when they anounced that they included some rules to go along with it, so I look at the rules and the implementation seems really basic to me, nothing exciting there.
I guess until they allow text entries to be used to trigger keyswitching Notion doesn't offer anything special over any other sequencer for choir/vocal works.

You can use symphonic choirs (in a very basic way - oohs, ahs, etc), but it may be possible to design some rules for the MIDI ports and load WordBuilder and Symphonic Choirs to a DAW for playback. It's a little more complicated than I think any of us would like, but then again, Symphonic Choirs (and the human voice for that matter) are a little more complicated than most would like.
