To produce the symbols [ and ] I have to press ALT-8 or ALT-9 (mac). However, doing this doesn's move the cursor as said in the manual, so I assume this only works on the keyboard where [ and ] come with a single button.
How can I move from measure to another with keyboard commands?

CMD + G will bring up the Go To dialogue box.
Right/Left arrow keys move silently note-by-note (provided a note is selected).
The delete key will go back to where you last played from, pressing it twice will return to the start of the score.
You can always just click on the measure you want or select it in the timeline.
Shame about not being able to use the square brackets.
