About Sync and Vst

Postby reztes » Thu Nov 22, 2012 7:45 am

Hello,
I've heard about that the lack of any way of video syncronization can be solved using several tools like "mediavst" and something called jbridge. Work they in Notion 4? How they work? Are they free?
(I have tried mediavst from the forum post and I cannot make it work).

I have another question: Can I use Midi sounds in Notion? How? It's for using some sounds similar to harmonium for composing purposes (I make first an sketch and then I orchestrate it).

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if mediavst works or not. jBridge is a program that converts 32 bit VSTs to 64 bit and vice versa (I know that it works), but it's not free. I prefer using another host (like Reaper; not free, but cheap) and syncing Notion via rewire.

MIDI by itself does not make sound. You need to route MIDI to a VSTi, synth, etc for sound to be generated from MIDI. Are the sounds you want to use part of a VST/VSTi? If so, then yes, you should be able to use the sounds in Notion.

Well, I know what midi is, sorry for the mistake. I mean the sounds that people mistaken call Midi sounds (the ones that the OS uses when plays a midi file. Yes, the horrible ones.

I only want a free harmonium-like sound compatible with Notion for composing sketches. Piano is good, but it's too pianistic -heheh- and it can't perfom crescendos in one note (like other instruments do).
