Re: A Fugue for the Fun of It

I think the problem might be that unlike JS Bach and some of the others who knew more about this sort of thing than I ever will, I didn't make any separation between the toccata and the fugue, and I deliberately made the principle themes to each of them rather similar so that one would slide right i...

A Fugue for the Fun of It

I thought I'd try my hand at a fugue this time. I was thinking of titling it Fugue in G... and D... and A... and B... and F# , but that seemed a bit much. I settled for Tocatta and Fugue for Organ . At least, it'll be for organ if the organist at church wants to play it, but since Notion3 doesn't ha...

Re: A Little Yankee Doodling

Considering what I hear coming from some of those who do claim to musicians, I don't think you have anything to apologize for! This is the sort of thing that lets you see that yes, you can compost the real thing, and I hope you'll keep at it!

Re: Practice in orchestration

Overall, I like it, but it does bring up a problem endemic to using this sort of program: it's easy to lose track of problems musicians in the real world face. We put it in the score, and the sampler cranks it out faithfully, something not always possible in the real world. IN this case, I found mys...

Re: Hip-hop jazz

In all honesty, I found it a bit repetitive for my tastes, but at the same time I found it highly reminiscent of theme music for a number of television programs I've seen in the past - usually of the darker, detective/cop sort. I'd say it's worth pursuing!

Re: CONCERTO FOR PIANO IN A MINOR (Vacation)

Quick note - Ihave removed the Third movement as I can nobody - including and particularly the person from whom I wrote it - who likes it. I can see why - it's so different from the rest that it's rather jarring. So a new one will now be written, and we'll see if it's any improvement!

Re: Happy Holidays

Yes, I thought enjoyment was the right word for it. I didn't think the fade at the end helped, but It was particularly interesting to hear after thinking of Franck as primarily a composer for organ. (Which may show how much I know about it!)

Much appreciated!

Re: CONCERTO FOR PIANO IN A MINOR (Vacation)

My grandparents were quite the travelers, but there was also a time when he Don Camillo stories were rather popular over here. Sadly, since that time, education in general has suffered here, and much has been forgotten. I am old enough to remember the 60's and the cold war period, and I remember rea...
