Re: dynamic markings

Basically when you import a score, sometimes scores include "merged staffs" as we used to call them in NOTION2. This is where the top voice plays one instrument and the bottom another. It could actually be the same instrument, like Flute 1 and Flute 2 separated on the staff. Then, yes, yo...

Re: Notion2 Sounds Not Loading

Yes, I opened up Notion 2 and looked at what was available. There was a listing of "instruments" that basically seemed like a bunch of sound effects, eg. lion roar, but only TWO of them were highlighted as actually being playable in Notion 2. The rest were put there as a future expansion, ...

Re: Notion2 Sounds Not Loading

Sound Effects? What are Sound Effects? Was that a Notion 2 expansion kit that you bought? If so, not all the expansion kits have been converted to be playable in Notion 3, but they are working on it. Either way, it sounds like you should contact Tech Support. They're usually pretty good at getting b...

Re: Notion2 Sounds Not Loading

Hi. Have you checked where Notion is getting its samples from? Go to Preferences - Audio - Samples Folder and see what path it is mapped to. You may also need to "tell" your score, instrument by instrument, to use the Notion 2 sounds and not Notion 3 sounds. See the User guide, page 9.9. f...

Re: dynamic markings

I've had this same experience when importing an old Notion 2 score via XML to Notion 3. Dynamics are only noticed by the application if they are above the notes. I remember someone else mentioning this in an early discussion soon after N3's release, too.

Re: Best sound library for String Quartet?

This is slightly off-topic, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had this experience moving from Notion 2 to Notion 3: I converted a Notion 2 score with solo viola to Notion 3, but the N3 viola sounded pretty poor - pitch was very off on some notes. So I reverted that particular score part to the No...

Re: String Harmonics

I've just discovered that solo string harmonics are not working for me as well. And if I revert to the Notion 2 sound for my solo viola, it no longer works with that, either. I press the letter 'o' and place it on my note on the staff and click, just like it says to do. The harmonic sign appears abo...

Re: Notion 3 headaches (for me)

One little update, that maybe other people have suffered from. Now that I have my Mac back, I've figured out why the registration for the IK Multimedia plugins would not let me click on the "Next" button. I had entered incorrect serial numbers, because the illustration from IK showing how ...

Re: Notion 3 headaches (for me)

Thanks for that clarification. I look forward to trying it out when I get my Mac back. Unfortunately, that possibly won't be until the last week of October.

Re: Notion 3 headaches (for me)

Thanks Lubo. I already had N2 on my Mac, so I assumed there was no need for me to install N2 sounds. Is that a false assumption? How do I determine whether it is using N2 sounds or N3 sounds? The comparison I was giving was between if I open the score with N2 or N3. I'll take a closer look at what t...
