Re: Bowed Percussion
Not a Notion sound as you ultimately wish... but have you tried loading EWQLSO bowed crotales, vibes, gongs, or their "waterphone" as VSTi plugins? I'm an old percussionist and using a bow on metal stuff was always one of my favorite tricks, EWQL did a really nice job capturing the otherwo...

Re: EWQL or VSL?
 _____BOTH!!!____ I have been enjoying great sounds from the combination of EWQL(SO and HW) and VSL(spec.ed) Here's why: EWQL is great for the ambience of the multi-mic method of sampling they use, you just can't simulate that real soundstage with artificial reverb. I do my mixes in surroun...

Re: Vibrato???
using ewql and vsl, I just go to the pallet and select "vibe" or "nonvibe" notations from the vsti articulations and indeed the right sound gets played as notated. If you want to do midi CC wiggles, better use a midi sequencer to wiggle a CC (grin)

Re: multiple instruments on mixer channel
in the "mixer" window, up top look for some buttons like "all" "midi" "vsti" ...and inside the right edge of the "vsti" button see a tiny + mark, click on the vsti+ and get a dropdown list of all your vsti plugin instruments, and select one that you ...

Re: Writing the drum staff
Hello, The user guide is rather terse about it. With the Notion3 drum set sounds the keyboard keys usually assigned to the drum sounds (C1 and above) do not work. By groping, I found the right keys between F3 and B4, which is quite unusual : if you want to assign a third-part VSTi the sounds are no...

Re: embedded tuplets?
i just tried both (for curiosity) ... yes you can have different instruments simultaneously play in differing meters and it seems to handle them correctly. I tried a flute in 3/4 and an oboe in 7/8 and a horn in 11/16 all on top of another and threw some notes down and it played them right. You migh...

Re: Enharmonics
hmm... strange, it works for me. Maybe not the way you expect... it's a cursor tool, not a highlight alteration. In other words, you should have nothing "selected" no highlighted notes at all, and you will get a mouse cursor that looks like ENH to then use to point at notes and click upon ...

Re: Mixed tuplets
it can work much like what you describe you want "more convenient" if you do a right click to "create custom tuplet". I go that way so often that I made a macro key for it on my setup. I find it easiest to simply first put all the notes that I will want to tupletify (including mi...

Re: Custom Rules Extended documentation
Thanks for starting this thread, great idea! Hopefully there will be some "discoveries" showing up here. Finding these undocumented tests and playback instruction tags and appropriate values to work them can be very difficult and time consuming (but a cool challenge to solve puzzlers), so ...

Re: generic automatic phrasing via slur markings
dgriffee, do you mind if I incorporate some of your ideas into my GPO rules? ...by all means please do go ahead and see what you can adopt/adapt from these ideas into your own custom rules. That's exactly what I had in mind as I only provided the pertinent snippets rather than a complete ruleset. I...
