Re: 3D Effect in the mixer
Another vote here for Virtual Sound Stage. It's the poor man's spatial placement tool, and it works pretty doggone well. Add a room reverb on your summing bus and you're in business.

Re: Contrabass Playback
If I wanted to know how to read bass clef, I would have gone to bass clef school . . . Stuff like that is not on the lesson plan in "by ear" school, which is my alma mater after graduating from liturgical boys choir . . . I hear it in my mind, and I can play it on a Fender Jazz Bass, but ...

Re: Using Vienna in Notion 4
So you use the transposition trick. I'm familiar with that using Cubase. How do you handle that in Notion?
I hadn't noticed the Second Violins patches in VI Pro 2 referred to by the responder in that thread. I just looked and I don't find any.
What about you, idiotSavant?

Re: Using Vienna in Notion 4
Just out of curiosity, what device do you guys use for VSL to work with Second Violins sections, or other situations where the same library instrument is used more than once?

Re: Using Vienna in Notion 4
Thanks for sharing how you work WITH Vienna Ensemble. Maybe at some point later I can graduate to doing it that way. I still haven't been able to figure out why Notion 4 on my PC isn't generating a Vienna Ensemble instance when I click "Empty Ensemble." There's gotta be a reason, I just ha...

Re: Using Vienna in Notion 4
Hmmm...
Just tried that and it IS much simpler, at least for initial setup. Is there any downside to doing this that people are aware of?

Re: Using Vienna in Notion 4
I suppose only because that's the way the official Notion video said to do it.
If that is not the best way to do it, I certainly have no problem with simpler.

Re: Using Vienna in Notion 4
Revisiting trying to set up Notion 4 for VSL Special Edition use. I have Volume 1 and Volume 1 PLUS. Following the tutorial video, in Setup when the instructor clicks on VSL Special Edition Pro, then Special Staffs, then Empty Ensemble, it appears that this automatically opens an instance Vienna Ens...

Re: East West Symphonic Choirs
Yes, people seem to like this much more up-to-date library, Surfwhammy. They have produced video overviews of their product as well.

Re: East West Symphonic Choirs
Might it be easier to handle in a DAW? Wasn't for me, that's where I used it. The difficulties are inherent in the EWQL Symphonic Choirs Word Builder interface. What are the presets in WordBuilder? I have in mind a Miserere which I want to get down on paper. The majority of the work will feature ju...
