Re: HACK: How to make pitch-shifted "instrument variants"...

Can this forum handle two Surfwhammy's? :D

Interesting stuff, Kurt.

Don't you guys wish we could wake up every morning, walk out of our bedrooms, and find an orchestra waiting in our living room eager to play our next cue?

Re: First Composition

Anthony, I feel you have strong material here. At 1:30 my ear was ready for something new. I think the variations are nice and work well but I would suggest attempting to vary the piano melody a bit. Perhaps this will lead to incoherency but a little more variation in the beginning in the piano is w...

Re: Clouds

Interesting.... Thanks man. I'll give that some thought when I encounter this again. 8-) idiotsavant - I'll have to try that out. Do you eq all the time? John, when I first started using VSL I struggled with the "cold" sound of the string samples. I started playing with EQ about a year ago...

Re: Clouds

Surf - I think you're right, it's the upper register of the cello's that's creating that sound. I did compare with my exported .wma and it is more prevalent on soundcloud, due to compression I suppose. BTW, these are not notion samples, they are Hollywood Strings. Thanks for the detailed write-up! 8...

Re: 4th movement of Symphony #4

Wow. That's older than I've been walking around.

Glad you finished(ing) it though. I have some works sitting around I need to finish, but it's so daunting to start on something from even a year ago.

Re: First Composition

Welcome Johnny,

I like the falling feeling you have.

A few comments. I wonder if the the cello line(nice melody) would work better as a trumpet. It feels as though it's battling for our ears with the piano.

Looking forward to future works!

Re: Waltz in Black

Thanks for the feedback guys. You're right about the dancability(word?). And good thinking about the air at the end, could use more variety in texture.

saint-completely written in N4 but using VST's.
