Re: Clouds
I also will often boost the +/- 250 hz range in strings which equates to the "wood" of the instrument. This makes the sound more realistic to my ears since it brings out the sound of the hollow wood body, which is where warmth comes from for strings. I also sometimes boost the highs at ab...

Re: Grainger Colonial Song Remastered
why are so many people downloading this? What exactly is the appeal of this particular work? I have heard many of your compositions that I would download before this one--why do you think this is so popular? Saint, thanks for the comps. You ask a very good question actually. I've been a huge fan of...

Re: Clouds
idiotsavant - I'll have to try that out. Do you eq all the time? John, when I first started using VSL I struggled with the "cold" sound of the string samples. I started playing with EQ about a year ago to warm up the sound. Then recently someone here posted something that was quite a reve...

Grainger Colonial Song Remastered
This recording has been far and away the most downloaded piece I've posted to SoundCloud to date, with well over 200 plays. I've remastered the piece yet again, preparing for album release. This recording in MIRPro Sage Gateshead Hall One with ValhallaRoom reverb tail. Some slight compression added ...

Re: Clouds
I also like the instrumentation but with one exception, which specifically is the instrument that has what appears to be a prominent white noise component . . . Surfwhammy, I think what you're hearing is the sample's rendition of the sound of the bow scraping the strings. I've noticed that this can...

Re: 3D Effect in the mixer
VSS is a great program. I also highly recommend ValhallaRoom for warm reverb tails. It's a great deal at $50 USD. Another nice inexpensive convolution reverb with realistic early reflections is Reverberate by LiquidSonics. Inexpensive entry level price and great sound.

Re: VSL Repetition staccatos
Gyorgy, my VSL bassoon responds to both staccato and staccatissimo markings in Notion. I use Vienna Instruments Pro.
You place a stacatissimo mark on the note and it plays a shorter staccato.

None I know of. I was saying that my tastes in music parallel my tastes in architecture and art. If architecture is frozen music, as Goethe said, I sometimes think of music as liquid architecture.

Bach - Air from Orchestral Suite #3
This is something a little different for me, my first foray into Baroque. I've always loved Bach, so here's my first "musical offering".

Re: How is hairpiin playback supposed to work?
And have you tried DIFFERENT dynamics for an upper voice and a lower voice? This seems to work ok for me... sometimes...
I've taken to the practice that whenever I have an issue, I just duplicate all dynamics above and below the staff for all staves. Twice the effort? It sure is!
Bug? You bet!
