Re: MIRx

It appears that, if you install the latest VI Pro, you no longer have the ability to sample an instrument using the built in reverb (in VI Pro) unless you pay for MIR X. Not game breaker, but an inconvenience.

Re: Logic Pro X

Instead, the audio for the music notation on the External MIDI staves is generated by Logic Pro 9 as the Logic Pro 9 virtual instruments play the MIDI notes and commands sent by the NOTION 4 External MIDI staves . . . As I understand it, this is a method for getting Notion to play external instrume...

This sounds interesting!

Re: Logic Pro X

Thanks for the link. It appears from the manual that Logic Pro X will only participate in ReWire as a host. I will check on Logic Pro X (Apple), but in the interim can you explain why you want Logic Pro 9 to be a ReWire 2 slave to NOTION 4? I would prefer to work entirely in Notion and control every...

Logic Pro X

Logic Pro 9 will NOT be a Rewire slave to Notion. Or indeed, anything.
Apple has finally released its Logic update but I am unable to find out if that feature has been included.
Could someone who buys Logic Pro X please post an answer to this topic?

Re: Bizarre Goings On

Problem solved. I think. I have been calling up the VSL official presets by using a Notion one and overwriting its content with the VSL one. The structure of the Notion code seemingly persists. When I avoid this practice, everything seems to work as it should. It is more than useful to have other us...

Re: Bizarre Goings On

Thanks for your reply. I can't find a Rules folder anywhere on the way to the file so I assume it is using the the VSLPRO_V2 rules in the packages PluginData folder. When I look at that file, it uses a plugin id of vipr making no distinction between Notion generated presets and others (the Brass Cho...

Re: Bizarre Goings On

When Notion writes a midi file from an EastWest VST/Play staff it does not add in the D-1/F-1/C9 interminable keyswitches. When it does the same from a VST/VIPro staff, even one that does not employ a Notion preset (and even one that has been converted from a Play configuration), it does write the k...

Bizarre Goings On

I open a VST track in Notion, choose Vienna Instruments Pro (not a Notion Preset). I then assign one of VSL's Chord Presets. I place the notes, enter the appropriate keyswitch notes setting them earlier than the playing notes and ensure that the corresponding matrix cells are loaded. It plays perfec...

Re: Vienna FULL library advantage?

Superb dissertation. Or should I say fabulous!
I just stumbled upon the files in the application package about 5 min before I read your post and haven't had time to digest it yet. But there's enough meat there to provision at least the first leg of my journey.
