Re: newbee question, VSTs and midi channels

Oh, I see. Yes, that would be very easy! I was hoping you knew of a way to strap a Play instance across the master outs. I thought of taking advantage of that "Master" switch in Play as a means to reduce CPU resources by routing all the instruments through one of the built-in reverbs in Pl...

Re: PDF Notation Scanners

Ah, right. In that case you could check out the following:

SmartScore
PhotoScore
Audiveris

The last one is open source and free!

I don't have any experience of these myself although I might try them as there are some scores I'd quite like to get into Notion to study.

Re: PDF Notation Scanners

If the PDF has been exported from a score editing software PDFtoMusic Pro will read it and export in MusicXML which can then be imported into Notion.

Bill, could you explain how to do this? Is it a case of loading a Play instance into the mixer master stereo output and just having the reverb switched on but without any instruments loaded?

Thanks.

Re: Tempo marking font?

Thanks very much, thorrild. I didn't know about that. That certainly satisfies me for now. Lovely.

Re: Crossover Music Question

Hi Connie It's not a dumb question. I don't have any experience of using Notion in this way. Indeed, I'm just getting to grips with it myself, having tired of creating entirely electronic music for years and moved into classical composition. I bought Notion purely for composing classical music. I'm ...

Re: Tempo marking font?

No, that's exactly what I did. I used the tempo marking tool and wrote my direction, making sure the numbers were bracketed so they don't display but what I'm trying to find out is just what font Notion is using for this "descriptor" text. Someone at Notion has now told me on Facebook that...

Re: Text to mark movements in a score

Yes, I've reverted to rehearsal marks for now as this seems to be the best means to do it while keeping everything in one document. What Notion could do in the future is simply add an option to the existing Add Title, Header, Footer menu whereby one could select any specific page for adding the subt...

Tempo marking font?

Can someone from Notion tell me which font is being used for the tempo marking? I just realised that one can have the tempo hidden by bracketing it and including a text indication (such as "andante") to display instead. I prefer this on my scores but thought it would be aesthetically pleas...
